Why is Kabul Center doing this?
We believe that alone the Afghan government cannot bring us to peace.
We are asking the government to limit their participation in this event to simply listening and hearing what the people and stakeholders of Afghanistan have to say.
The conference is not an opportunity for politicians to grandstand or try and expand their power base.
This conference will be an opportunity for people outside the corridors of power to give the government feedback on what they need to go forward in peace.

How to achieve peace
in Afghanistan
We are still in the planning stages of this conference which, depending on interest, we hope will happen in the first half of 2008.
We are soliciting the participation of all stake holders in Afghanistan.
First and foremost we are soliciting the people of Afghanistan. We are the ones whose very survival depends on our resolving this situation.
Specifically we are soliciting the participation of:
•Religious leaders.
•Community and tribal leaders.
•Insurgent commanders.
•Neighbors.
•International leaders.
•Afghan business leaders.
•Government officials and representatives.
Afghans not fighting the insurgency are especially encouraged to participate. This cannot just involve people with power and those desperate enough for power that they are willing to wreak chaos and despair in order to obtain it.
The goal of this conference will be to create a list of demands that all Afghans will see as reasonable and devise a way forward so we can unite as a nation.
